Description

Teddy bear - 6 shows a brown bear cub in a knitted green jumper sitting among a pink thread that winds across the whole field.

What the picture shows

The jumper is worked in lime and grass green beads in horizontal rows, with a white collar; the cub is outlined in amber and the paws shown as ovals of pale beads with a brown rim. A spool of pink thread stands on the left, and from it a line of pink beads winds across the field — it is what holds the composition together. Orange buttons, worked as rings, are ‘sewn’ onto the thread in several places. The striped pink-and-white ground stays as print. With 5 colours, the fewest in this series, the piece works up quickly. The pink line is best run in one movement from the spool, without stopping mid-curve. Each button is worked as a ring of seven or eight beads and set on the thread as though it really were sewn to the canvas.
