Description

Teddy bear - 2 shows a ginger bear cub with big eyes sitting in a thicket of lilac and blue flowers, with a butterfly hovering above.

What the picture shows

Flowers surround the figure on three sides: four-petalled rosettes worked in purple, blue, pale blue and white beads, with yellow or white dots for centres. Short green leaves are scattered between the blooms. The cub is outlined in orange and gold, the paws worked as ovals of pale beads, and the wide-eyed face stays as print. A butterfly with blue wings and amber antennae sits at the upper right. The pale blue ground is left bare, and a line of white beads runs around the edge of the piece. The 11 colours are the most in this series. The flowers take the longest: each rosette is worked separately, so it is easier to move from the large heads above down to the small ones below. The small rosettes sit right against one another, so the thread has to be secured often to keep the flower head from drifting sideways.
