Description

Spring gift shows a bunch of narcissi: white flowers with yellow trumpets mixed with wholly yellow ones.

What the picture shows

The flowers form a dense head in the centre. The white petals are worked in pearl beads and the trumpets in yellow and orange laid in a circle; the yellow narcissi use two shades, from lemon to amber. Small mimosa balls and lilac dots are scattered between them. A blue-green ribbon comes out of the bunch below, worked as one long curving line, and balances the warm top. The corners are marked with short bead lines: yellow at the upper right, blue at the lower left. The white ground is left clear. There are 8 colours. The trumpets are worked first, since they decide which way each flower faces. The blue-green ribbon below is run as a single unbroken line and balances the heavy yellow head of the bunch above. The mimosa is left until last: the small yellow balls close the gaps between the petals.
