Description

South night – 3 shows a magnolia branch with large pink and white blooms against an evening street with a lit window.

What the picture shows

The flowers are scattered on the diagonal: three open, two still in bud. The petals are worked in white beads with a pink centre, the edges traced in small beads so every wave shows. The branch is picked out in black beads — a dark line that crosses the frame and holds the composition. Behind it the purple-lilac townscape stays printed: a stone house, a warm window, a tree crown with yellow gaps. No beads go there, which is why the blooms look lit from within. The 7 colours run from white to almost black. The black branch is worked first — it holds the composition and sets the tilt of the blooms. The magnolias are laid along it from the largest to the buds, and each petal edge is outlined at the very end.
