Description

Sonny shows a fair-haired baby on a green rocking horse, with toy bears and ducklings scattered around.

What the picture shows

The horse is outlined in green beads, the saddle and bridle in pink, the mane and tail shown as pale strands; the rockers are worked as a double green row. The child wears a white shirt stitched in pearl beads, while the face and hair stay as print. A garland of pale blue, yellow and pink flowers crosses the piece above, a bear with a bow sits under the horse, and two ducklings stand below. More bears are printed in the corners and are not stitched. The white ground is left clear. There are 8 colours. The rockers are worked first: they set the tilt of the whole horse and the line the scene stands on. The garland above is worked from small mixed flowers, and the ducklings and bear below are outlined once the horse is finished.
