Description

“Have a safe trip” shows a heavy motorbike on a night street, with a greeting above it and small flowers scattered across the sky. The mood is festive and a little cheeky.

What the picture shows

The canvas is graphite grey and the layout is upright. A yellow strip of road runs along the bottom, and the chopper stands on it: tank, mudguards and frame are built up in blue, violet and steel-grey beads, with turquoise beads forming the wheel hubs. Behind the bike a city skyline is picked out in black beads over a printed teal wash. The upper half is filled with little flowers and stars in yellow, turquoise, grey and copper. The word “Happy” stays printed in blue on a white brushstroke, while “BIRTHDAY” is worked in gold-bronze beads. The dark ground is never beaded over: all nine colours go into the bike, the lettering and the small details.
