Description

Happy Wedding – 3 shows two white doves under a flowering arch and a pair of gold rings linked together.

What the picture shows

The arch is built from small rosettes — pink, crimson, lilac and turquoise — with dark green leaves between them, outlined above by a black-and-white string of beads. The rings at the centre are laid in golden beads as two circles and are the brightest detail in the piece. Spires of lupin rise at the lower left and right, one purple-blue and one white-blue, both worked as short columns. The doves stay as print on the canvas, as does the pink-peach sky behind. The 12 colours are the most in the batch. The rings are worked first: the two circles have to lie true, since they sit dead centre and any skew shows at once. The lupins below are worked as short columns from the bottom up, narrowing towards the tip so the spire does not read as a plain bar.
