Description

“Happy New Year” hangs mittens, a hat and a Christmas stocking on green garlands. It is the pre-holiday clutter of a home, in miniature.

What the picture shows

The canvas is mint green. Two garlands of green and turquoise beads cross the sheet on the diagonal, and things hang from them: a striped blue-and-white mitten, a blue hat with gold and white rows, a red mitten with a white cuff and a sprig of holly, a large red, blue and white Christmas stocking, a silver-green bow and a second red mitten with berries. Across the top the word “HOLIDAYS” is worked in red beads, while the smaller “HAPPY” stays printed on a white cloud. The ground and the printed white patch behind the lettering are left unbeaded — all ten colours go into the objects, the garlands and the letters.
