Description

Happy New Year – 1 has a bullfinch on a snow-covered rowan branch against a deep blue ground. A classic winter motif with nothing extra.

What the picture shows

The deep blue background with its printed snowflakes is left unbeaded, and it carries the whole mood. A pale rectangle outlined in dark beads runs across it like a window with the bird sitting in it. The rowan clusters are worked in bright orange-red beads with white beads of snow lying on top, and the branches are dark brown and black. The bullfinch's wings and tail are laid in black beads, while its red breast and grey back stay as print. The clusters repeat at lower left and upper right, holding the diagonal. Nine colours: blues, whites, oranges, browns and black.
