Happy Birthday – 2 has two girls in oversized hats standing side by side on a pink dotted ground. The drawing follows the style of old children's illustration.

What the picture shows

The hats are the largest raised elements: their wide brims are worked in circles of white and cream beads and topped with small pink and green flowers. The girls' dresses stay as print — one cream with a fine floral pattern, the other pink; beads outline the sashes, collars and hems, and a few green and pink beads mark the shoes. Beaded flowers are scattered over the background: blue forget-me-nots with yellow centres, pink and burgundy clusters, green leaves. The soft pink dotted ground itself is left unbeaded. Eight colours give a gentle, easy-going palette.
