Description

Happy 8th of March (Women's Day) – 5 shows a bouquet of red roses with forget-me-nots and lily of the valley, tied with a wide blue bow.

What the picture shows

A pale lilac field holds the composition together, edged with a line of white beads that makes a frame inside the picture itself. Three red roses fill the centre, worked in spiral rows from dark to bright red. Sprays of blue forget-me-nots and pink blossom sit to the left and above, with strings of white lily of the valley between them. A large blue bow with two loops gathers the stems below and is the lightest detail in the piece. The leaves are narrow and dark green. The greeting on the upper right is printed. The ground is left bare — the 8 colours go into flowers, bow and foliage. The bow is the trickiest part: the blue beads must follow the curve or the loops flatten out. The roses, by contrast, are worked in a circle from the centre and go evenly, with almost no fitting.
