Description

Happy 8th of March (Women's Day) – 2 shows a teddy bear peeping out from behind a large bunch of small flowers, with a number-eight tag hanging on a cord.

What the picture shows

The view is close up: the bear’s head and paw fill the right half, while the bouquet spills across the upper left. The flowers are worked as round rosettes — pink, crimson, blue, yellow, and white daisies with yellow centres — with green leaves between them. The bear’s fur stays as print on the canvas, a warm beige with brown shadows. Beads outline the muzzle, the seam on the paw and the cord that carries the tag, which is itself framed in silvery beads. The pink-lilac background is not covered. The 9 colours build a busy bouquet against a calm field. The blossom takes the longest: every rosette is worked separately, there are several dozen of them, and a place has to be found for each as you go. The bear’s outline, by contrast, is a single line of beads done in one pass.
