Flowers and butterfly shows pink blossom and two butterflies, one blue and one orange, against a page from a book.

What the picture shows

The two large flowers below are worked in pink and crimson beads in a spiral, with white dots at their centres; a smaller bud has opened on the stem above. A butterfly with blue-purple wings edged in black and orange sits on the left, and a second, ginger with a black pattern, on the right. Stems and leaves are done in green over several rows, with small berries here and there. The background — a printed page of text with a faded drawing — is left unbeaded, and it is what gives the piece the look of a herbarium sheet. The 9 colours are divided between the pink, green and blue groups. The butterflies are worked separately, wing by wing. The petals of the large flowers are worked as spirals from the centre, and the white dots at their hearts are added last.
