Description

“Flashlights of dreams” is three strings of paper lanterns hung one above the other. Busy, light and summery.

What the picture shows

Three thin cords are stretched across the white canvas, and lanterns of every shape hang from them: round, oval, narrow and rectangular, some with tassels and loops below. The colours follow no system at all — yellow, green, pink, pale blue, orange, lilac, turquoise. The beads build the outlines and rims of the lanterns, the small scatters of flowers on them and the hanging cords, while the patterns inside — blooms, stripes, dots — stay as printing on the canvas and are never covered. The large green lantern in the middle carries a printed “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” and white daisies with beaded centres beside it. Eleven colours give the garland its feel: no lantern repeats its neighbour.
