Description

Festive bunch of flowers shows a large yellow bloom with a dark blue centre, surrounded by lilac blossom and white daisies.

What the picture shows

The central flower fills half the field: the petals are worked in yellow beads radiating from the centre, the rim outlined in orange, and the heart laid in blue and turquoise in a spiral. A butterfly with blue and purple wings sits at the upper right. Lilac and pink flowers with yellow centres fill the left and top, while a white daisy and small blue blooms sit below. The stems are green, worked in several rows. A purple band with a printed scallop runs along the top; the pale ground with its blurred flowers is left bare. There are 10 colours. The heart is worked first — it fixes the centre from which all the petals fan out. The petals of the central bloom run as rays from the heart outwards, and how evenly they fall decides whether it comes out round.
