Description

Dear playmate shows two girls in hats taking tea at a round table, with a puppy busy underneath it.

What the picture shows

The table is covered with a blue cloth and holds a white teapot and cups, all traced in beads. The girl on the left wears a pink hat with a flower, the one on the right a yellow hat with a blue ribbon; their dresses are stitched in lilac and grey-blue along the folds. The faces stay printed. Large pink chrysanthemums with yellow centres and dark green leaves fill the corners, and a golden bead frame runs around the edge. The white ground is left bare. The 7 colours make a soft, pastel range. The chrysanthemums in the corners are worked first, setting the frame and the limits the scene fits into. The china and the cloth are outlined at the end, once the girls are finished and the layout is clear.
