Description

Congratulations – 9 shows willow branches with fluffy catkins and a few purple and red flowers at the foot of the bunch.

What the picture shows

The catkins are worked in white beads as rounded clusters, the stems as a golden-brown chain, so the branches look thin and light. Three flowers hold the base of the bunch: two purple with a lilac sheen and one red, worked in vertical rows so every petal shows. Narrow green leaves and short green ribbons fan out between them. The ground is pale, lilac-green, with a soft glow behind the bunch; it stays as print and is not stitched. Most of the 10 colours go into white, green and purple. The catkins are worked as little clusters of several beads, and they give the piece the relief that flat print could not. The stems are drawn as a single row, so the branches stay thin and light.
