Description

Congratulations – 7 has a boy in a straw hat carrying a bunch of garden flowers. The treatment is restrained: the figure itself and a light border ornament.

What the picture shows

The hat carries the most detail: the wide brim is laid in concentric rows of cream, beige and brown beads, with the crown outlined in a darker shade. The bouquet in his hands is built from small blooms — red, yellow, orange and white, a few beads each — on green leaves. The red and white striped shirt and blue trousers are outlined along the seams and hems, and a few white beads mark the shoes. A fine gold-and-red beaded ornament runs around the edge of the piece like the border of an old postcard. The boy's face, his hands and the cream ground are left as print. Ten colours.
