Best teacher – 2 shows pink roses beside a globe and a stack of books, with autumn maple leaves falling above.

What the picture shows

A stem with three roses rises on the left: two open blooms worked as spirals of pale pink and crimson with a white outline, and two buds. A globe stands on the right — the continents laid in green beads, the oceans in blue, the stand in amber. Books with coloured edges and a candle lie beneath it, traced along their outlines. The maple leaves above and the pale yellow-green ground stay as print on the canvas. The 7 colours are divided between the pink, green and blue groups. The globe is worked in a circle following the curve of the sphere, otherwise the continents look pasted onto a flat disc. The roses are done separately from the heart outwards, and the books are outlined at the end.
