Description

Best doctor – 2 shows an owl doctor in a white coat with a stethoscope and a bag, with pink roses flowering behind her.

What the picture shows

The owl’s head is worked in golden and beige beads, the large eyes ringed in black and white, the beak brown. The coat is done in white beads with neat rows of buttons, a pink and lilac stethoscope cord lies over the shoulder, and a pale bag with a red cross hangs from one claw. Three pink roses with dark green leaves in dense strips are scattered behind. The wall with its faint tiled grid stays as print on the canvas: the beads work on the figure and the flowers. Half of the 9 colours go into the coat and the plumage. The owl’s eyes are worked first: the whole face depends on their size and they are hard to correct later. The coat then runs in long even rows and, with the roses, takes most of the time.
