Description

Angel and Rose shows a little angel inside a large heart of pink flowers, reaching towards an open rose.

What the picture shows

The heart is outlined with a dense chain of pink and crimson rosettes and is the main shape of the piece, filling almost the whole field. Inside stands a baby with white wings worked in short rows and a white bow on its head. A large pink rose with a spiral heart has opened on the right, its stem and toothed leaves done in two greens. Bands of yellow and white flowers on a pink ground run along the top and bottom. The striped ground inside the heart stays as print. There are 6 colours. The heart is worked first: it is large, and the whole composition depends on how evenly its curve runs. The bands of yellow and white flowers above and below are done at the end: they frame the heart and settle the composition.
