Description

“A hare in the stocking” shows a grey hare peeping out of a Christmas stocking tied with a red bow.

What the picture shows

The stocking sits on the diagonal, stitched in shifts from orange to red with long pale stripes along the cuff. A full red bow with two loops and long tails ties it at the top, and green sprigs with small red berries lie beside it. The hare is grey-blue, with long ears, a dark dot of an eye and a white muzzle, its paws resting on the edge of the stocking. There are only eight colours, so the design lives on clean contrasts of red, green and grey. The ground is not stitched: the white Aida stays open and reads as snow around the figure. The finished piece goes into the acrylic key-ring frame.
