“Warm July” — a summer bouquet of garden and meadow flowers in a glass vase, seemingly just gathered and set against the light.

What the picture shows

A generous bouquet fills the clear, blue-tinted vase: yellow sprays of tiny blossoms, white daisies with yellow centres, pink and lilac chrysanthemums and carnations, small blue forget-me-nots. On the right, branches of pink flowers reach far beyond the bouquet; on the left, yellow-green foliage spills downward. A strand of pale beads hangs from the vase. The background is blurred, in grey-lilac and cool blue tones, fading almost to white at the bottom — and it is against this coolness that the bouquet glows. Coverage is partial: beads fill the flowers, leaves and vase, while the blurred background stays painted on the canvas.
