Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "Under the Sea"
Description
“Under the Sea” shows several clownfish circling over a coral reef in clear blue water.
What the picture shows
The orange fish with their broad white bands and black edging are spread across the whole field: two large ones in the centre, the rest smaller and nearer the edges. The reef beneath them is assembled from different corals — pink and crimson branches on the left, white and pale blue growths in the middle, yellow sponges, green and turquoise tufts on the right. A large purple starfish lies at the bottom. The water is rendered in shifting blues with small bubbles. Here the beadwork is nearly full: beads cover the reef, the water, the starfish and the bubbles, while the fish themselves stay printed, so their bodies read as smooth against the grainy reef. The composition is arranged so the eye slides from the large pair of fish in the centre out to the smaller ones in the corners, while the varied scale of the corals gives a sense of depth.
