What the picture shows

A wooden windmill with four sails stands on a rise, with a band of dark forest and distant fields behind it. The whole foreground is a field of daisies: white petals with yellow centres, yellow flower heads among them, small lilac blooms and thick greenery. The nearer the viewer, the larger the flowers grow. The sky is high and blue with pinkish-grey clouds, and it takes up almost a third of the canvas. Coverage is partial: beads fill the mill, the daisy field and the line of forest, while the clouded sky stays painted on the canvas and sets the light key of the whole piece.
