Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "The Magic of the Sea"
Description
“The Magic of the Sea” shows a woman in a blue dress standing with her back to the viewer on a stony shore, watching a sailing ship out at sea.
What the picture shows
Slightly left of centre stands the figure: a pale blue dress with bare shoulders and a full skirt, hair gathered up, and an openwork parasol in warm ochre raised above her head. On the right a three-masted ship under white sails crosses the waves. On the left a cliff rises in grey-green haze, and below, the shore is covered with large boulders washed by foam. The sky is pale, almost white at the horizon. The beadwork is partial: beads cover the dress, the parasol, the shore stones and the white crests of the waves, while the face, the ship, the cliff and the sky stay printed. The composition divides in half: the cold stony shore and the waves below, the pale sky above, with the figure holding the centre. Golden glints on the stones echo the parasol.
