Description

“The Keeper of Dreams” — a fairy-tale town with red and blue roofs, watched over by a tall blue cat with long whiskers. He keeps the townsfolk's dreams while the sun has not yet slipped behind the clouds.

What the picture shows

The drawing is deliberately naive, almost childlike. A little town crowds the lower half: steep-roofed houses with red, blue and lilac walls, yellow windows and slender lamps on tall stems. To the right, a blue cat with round eyes and long whiskers rises above the rooftops. In the sky a smiling orange sun sits in a swirl of cloud; trees dotted with pale blossom stand left and right; green foliage frames the picture along the top and sides, and a brown slope with a tiny cottage runs along the bottom. The stitching is partial: beads outline the cat, the walls and windows of the houses, the lamps, the trees and the border, while the sky, the sun and the slope stay painted on the canvas.
