Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "Temptation"
Description
“Temptation” shows a young woman holding an apple, a branch of apple blossom in her hair and a snake winding down her shoulder. The picture rests on an old story about choice.
What the picture shows
The face is painted in profile and tilted down, the gaze fixed on the small red apple she holds in both hands. Long chestnut hair falls in waves over a bare shoulder. Above her brow lies a wreath of white and pink apple blossom with dark green leaves. On the right a light brown snake with a mottled pattern coils across her hair and shoulder. The background is the blurred green of a garden with pink patches of blossom. The beadwork is partial: beads cover the flowers in the hair, the leaves, the apple, the snake's scales and part of the green background, while the face, the hands and the hair stay as the painted print and keep their soft, painterly quality.
