Description

“Summer Trip” shows a pale blue bicycle with a basket of summer flowers, leaning against an old plank wall. The mood is light and a little market-day, a hint of a ride with nowhere to hurry.

What the picture shows

The bicycle stands side-on, so both wheels with their pale spokes are visible, along with the curved handlebars, the leather saddle and the soft blue frame. The basket on the handlebars holds a dense bouquet: pink, crimson, cream and yellow flowers with green leaves, a few petals hanging over the edge. Behind it are darkened boards with flaking paint and faded café advertising lettering in Latin script. The palette is warm: ochre, brown, muted blue and juicy floral accents. The beadwork is partial: beads cover the bicycle, the basket, the bouquet, the wheels and the saddle, while the wooden wall with its lettering stays as the painted print on the canvas.
