What the picture shows

At the upper left is a heavy cluster of sunflowers with dark centres and sharp yellow-orange petals, standing in a blue-green faceted vase. Across the middle lies a honey-coloured violin with a black fingerboard, its slim bow cutting the canvas on a diagonal. At the lower right, sheets of music and a napkin show white, with a cup in a lilac pattern set upon them. The background is built from broad ochre and cream strokes, like crumpled cloth.
