“Spring Awakening” shows a fair-haired child with wings looking at a nest in a blossoming tree.

What the picture shows

The child stands barefoot on a stone in profile, in a long pale shift, with large translucent wings behind. One hand reaches towards a branch on the right, where a small nest sits among dense pink blossom. The tree is covered with little pink flowers with yellow centres, its trunk and branches brown. Blue and yellow spring flowers bloom in the grass at the lower left, and a blurred green garden lies behind. The beading is partial: beads cover the child, the wings, the flowering tree, the nest and the foreground flowers, while the garden behind stays painted on the canvas.
