“Small bird” — a yellow bird on a branch among large ochre flowers and small round rosettes. The drawing is stylised, like a piece of pretty printed fabric.

What the picture shows

On the left a bird with yellow-orange plumage, a darker back and a black eye sits on a slim brown branch, turned towards two large blooms the colour of ripe wheat with black-and-yellow centres. The background is built from bands: a mint-green field with a faint plant print, a dark blue strip on the left carrying lime chrysanthemums, and a scattering of round rosettes — blue, white, lemon, turquoise. The beadwork is partial: you bead the bird, the branch, the large flowers and the rosettes, while the patterned mint and blue background stays as print. The little rosettes are handy to stitch between the bigger areas — they break the work into short sittings.
