Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "Seafront"

“Seafront” shows a flower-covered terrace above a bay, looking out over boats at anchor and distant mountains.

What the picture shows

On the left stands a stone colonnade entirely wrapped in branches of pink and red blossom; beside it are an old stone basin and broad steps paved with pale tiles. The terrace balustrade curves out to the edge of the slope, with two dark cypresses rising behind it. Below lies the bay: calm blue-turquoise water, several white boats and yachts, a curve of coastline with houses and a mountain ridge in haze. The sky is light, with soft clouds. The beadwork is partial: beads cover the flowers, the foliage, the columns, the steps, the balustrade and the cypresses, while the sea, the mountains and the sky stay as the painted print. The composition is built in steps: from the shaded colonnade in the foreground the eye moves down the terrace to the water and on to the mountains. The colours are warm in front and cool in the distance.
