What the picture shows

The child is shown close up, filling almost the whole field. She has fair wavy hair and a wreath of red, yellow and pink roses with green leaves; large white wings with long feathers rise behind her. Both palms are cupped at her lips, and small pink petals are lifting away from them. Her dress is white, with soft folds and a faint blue tone in the shadows. The background is a blurred floral wash of pink, lilac and spring-green patches. The canvas is set in a pale lilac frame with a thin edging. The stitching is partial: beads cover the wings, the wreath, the folds of the dress, the petals in the air and the frame, while the face, the hands and the floral background stay printed.
