“Puddle's reflections” — autumn leaves on water, with the reflection of an old town and sky showing through them.

What the picture shows

This is a view down into a puddle: large maple leaves lie on the water — golden, russet, greenish, their edges curling — and the reflection comes through between them. In the water you can make out the façade of an old building with balconies, a stone embankment, tree branches and a sky of white clouds. The dark side of a boat shows in the lower left corner. The palette is warm — ochre, rust, olive — and the only cool accent is the blue of the reflected sky. Coverage is full: beads cover the leaves, the reflection and the water itself.
