What the picture shows

The flowers run diagonally from the top edge to the lower right corner: the petals are painted a warm brick-orange with darker folds, and the centres are almost black. Long narrow leaves and sharp stems in grass green and pale blue rise between them, fanning out to form the trail of the title. The background is openly painterly: the orange paint is swept into broad spirals, with a large pale curl visible at the upper left. The beading is partial: beads cover the flowers, stems and leaves, while the swirling background stays printed on the canvas.
