“Pink sherbet” — a lavish bouquet in crimson and pink, soft and slightly blurred, as if photographed in warm light.

What the picture shows

The bouquet fills almost the entire field: large tousled chrysanthemums and dahlias in crimson, pink and purple, a cream-yellow bloom at the top, smaller buds around the edges. Thin reddish stems and narrow leaves push out between the heads. Two butterflies with russet-brown wings rest at the upper right and at the bottom centre. The background is delicate pale pink, with faint painted twigs that almost dissolve into the colour. Coverage is partial: beads fill the flowers, the stems and the butterflies, while the pink background stays painted on the canvas.
