“Owl and holly” — a tufted owl among holly branches with red berries on a patterned Christmas ground. A decorative piece, almost like a greeting card.

What the picture shows

The owl sits at the centre in beige-brown plumage finely streaked across the breast, with large yellow eyes and black pupils. Holly branches reach in from both sides: dark green prickly leaves and clusters of red berries at the lower left, on the right and close to the bird itself. The background is pieced together like patchwork — a cream field with red plant ornament, red-and-white check, cream lace with paisley, and a large white-and-red snowflake star at the upper right. A thin red border runs round the edge. The beadwork is partial: you bead the owl, the leaves and the berries, while all the patterned background stays as print.
