What the picture shows

The lion's face fills almost the whole field: a broad nose, pink nostrils, calm amber eyes. The mane flies outward in rays — red, crimson, orange, yellow, turquoise, violet, with single white and lime strands. The background is coloured too: blue, green and lilac patches with large pale circles like bubbles. There is almost no natural lion shade here — only the warm golden centre of the muzzle holds the composition together.
