Description

“Morning Forest” shows two tits on branches heavy with red berries, deep in summer foliage.

What the picture shows

The birds sit on a diagonal: one high on the right, turned towards the viewer, the other lower on the left, in profile with its tail up. Both have blue-grey backs, white cheeks, dark caps and ochre breasts. Around them are branches with clusters of small red berries and large toothed leaves in which the green shifts into lime and yellow. The background is blurred — muted blue sky above, distant berry clusters that add depth, and a pale flower head at the bottom left. The frame is square and the branches cross it on a slant, so the eye travels from the lower bird up to the higher one. The beading is partial but dense: beads cover the birds, the leaves, the berries and the branches across almost the whole field, while the soft blurred background at the top and in the corners stays printed on the canvas.
