“Moon peonies” — white peonies on a deep blue ground, painted as though night light were falling on them.

What the picture shows

Large white and ice-blue peonies open against a deep blue background. The blooms run on a diagonal: two heads at the top, the largest at bottom centre, another on the left. Between them lie long pointed leaves in blue-turquoise and emerald shades, and slender stems with small pink-crimson flowers in the upper left corner. The palette is deliberately restrained: only eleven colours, built almost entirely on blue, white and green with a few pink accents. Coverage is full — the whole field, background included, is marked with circles, so the finished piece will be solid beadwork with real weight and shine.
