“Moon fairy” — a woman with closed eyes holds a large moon in her palms while a starry night sky unfolds behind her. The mood is calm, almost meditative.

What the picture shows

At the centre are the fairy's softly blushing face and the golden disc of the moon, filled with beads in warm ochre and brown shades. Her long veil of hair falls downward and shimmers with blue, turquoise and yellow beads, as if stars had settled on it; a thin crescent glows in her hair. The upper part of the canvas is deep blue night with violet and emerald swirls, and a narrow strip of land in warm evening light runs along the bottom. The beading is partial: beads cover the moon, the veil of hair, the crescent, the stars and the lower band of landscape, while the face, the hands and the painted night sky stay as print on the canvas, so the figure looks wrapped in air.
