“Lunar evening” — a ginger kitten in a nightcap has settled on a yellow crescent moon, hugging a small teddy bear.

What the picture shows

The crescent takes up the left half of the canvas: golden-yellow, worked in a fine beaded pattern. A striped ginger kitten with big green eyes sits on it, wearing a pink-and-blue nightcap with a bobble; its paws are in pink slippers, and a little brown bear lies beside it. The background is a deep violet sky sown with yellow stars of different sizes, and stars hang on threads from the tips of the moon. Below appears a snowy little town: blue roofs, fir trees and warm lights in the windows. Coverage is dense: beads fill the moon, the kitten, the stars and almost all of the sky, while the lower band with the houses stays as print on the canvas. The contrast of yellow against violet keeps the subject visible from the far side of a room.
