What the picture shows

The composition rests on three vessels standing side by side on a rough grey table: a glass jar and a round-bellied ceramic jug hold the lilac branches, and beside them a small pot in a woven basket carries tiny pink blooms. The flower heads are built from several shades — from deep violet and bluish lilac to pale pink and pure white — with dark heart-shaped leaves between them. A light bowl lies in front of the jug, and a wrought-iron leg shows under the table top. Behind is sunlit grass, tree trunks and deep shade. Coverage is partial: beads fill the flowers, leaves, vessels and the boards of the table, while the garden background of grass and trees stays painted on the canvas.
