Description

“Lilac” is an armful of lilac in a round glass vase against a warm ochre background.

What the picture shows

The bouquet is full and almost spherical: heavy clusters of lilac-violet alternate with creamy white ones, and large heart-shaped leaves in grass green and dark green sit between them. Several sprays hang down on the right, and one more lies on the table below along with a scattering of fallen florets. The vase is round and clear, with green stems visible through the glass in the water. The background is even and warm, running from orange at the top to deeper ochre below. The beading is partial: beads cover the flowers, leaves, stems and vase, while the background and the tabletop stay printed on the canvas.
