Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "Jar"

“Jar” — a decorative still life in which a jug, a bowl and fruit are laid out across the surface in bright colour segments.

What the picture shows

At the centre is an oval tray with a patterned rim, holding a tall dark jug with a curved neck and a round stopper. Around it are the back of a chair, a yellow bowl of berries, green and orange fruit and broad bands of tablecloth. The forms are deliberately simplified and arranged almost like stained glass: lilac, blue, yellow, green, orange and raspberry patches inside firm outlines. Coverage is dense, close to complete — beads fill all the large colour fields, and only the thin outlines and small areas of ground between them stay printed. The composition closes on itself: the eye travels round the tray, rises along the neck of the jug and comes back to the fruit below.
