Description

“In the Sun Room” shows a table laid with tea and cakes in a glazed veranda, with three cats going about their own business.

What the picture shows

At the centre is a round table under a pale cloth: a teapot, cups, a cake on a tall stand, plates of pastries and fruit. Behind it a large multi-paned window opens onto a green garden, with climbing plants in pink flower on the sill and above, and a hanging planter on the frame. A Siamese cat sits on a chair to the right, another has settled on a high shelf, and at the bottom left a grey tabby walks across the wooden floor. On the right there is an armchair in flowered upholstery, a blue cushion and a bowl by the table leg. The beading is partial: the walls, the floor, the furniture, the plants and the china are beaded, while the cats themselves, the tablecloth and the view through the window stay printed.
