What the picture shows

Two open blooms with pale blue and deep blue petals and yellow stamens fill the centre, above large green leaves with broad veins. The ground of the central panel is light and creamy, with soft brushwork. White openwork scrolls run over pale blue on the left; strips of small yellow-and-red check sit above and below; fragments of old handwriting and terracotta patches appear on the right, with two lilac butterflies above them. The beadwork is partial: the flowers, the leaves, the butterflies and all the ornamental strips are beaded, while the cream panel and the pale blue fields stay as print on the canvas.
