Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "Guest"

“Guest” — a girl looks out of a carved window while a bullfinch settles on the sill. The piece is quiet and slightly fairy-tale, with the feel of a frosty morning beyond the glass.

What the picture shows

At the centre is the wooden window of an old cottage, with a carved surround and a leafy ornament above it. A girl in a red headscarf and white shirt leans out, hands folded under her chin. On the right, a bullfinch with a bright red breast sits on a wooden ledge, and below it hangs a branch covered in hoarfrost and icicles. A snowy fir tree stands at the lower right, and broad vertical bands of red geometric ornament on an ochre ground run down both sides of the canvas. The beadwork is partial: beads cover the side ornament bands, the carving and window frame, the bullfinch, the frost, the snow and the fir, while the girl's face, her headscarf and the dark interior stay printed on the canvas.
