Description

“Grace” is a portrait of a young woman with long golden-red hair and white flowers in her hair.

What the picture shows

She is turned three-quarters towards the viewer, her gaze on the observer, her shoulders bare. Her hair falls in wide waves, and white flowers with yellow centres and green leaves are set into it near the temple. The same flowers trim the bodice of her dress, over which lies a strand of pale pearls. In the lower left she holds a red flower on a green stem. The background is blurred, in patches of pink, crimson and pale blue that read like clouds. The beading is partial: beads cover the flowers, the pearls, the bodice trim and a few highlights, while the face, hair and background stay printed on the canvas and keep the soft painterly look.
